For over 40 years Vacumet has been a leading metallizer of paper and plastic substrates for decorative, high-barrier and other functional applications. Throughout our history, we have helped brands add consumer convenience, esthetic enhancements, new methods of handling and cooking food and product safety improvements.

Manufacturing Capabilities and Advancements

Our combination of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and our operator experience and dedication to quality allow us to offer the precise optical density on a wide range of substrate materials. With an optical density range of +/-.03, we offer metallized components to brand owners that help them achieve consistent packaging performance required for each application.

Vacumet’s Plasma treating capability in conjunction with proprietary processing techniques has acheived barrier improvements in excess of 400% since 2003. With minimal impact on final product pricing, Vacumet can now supply plain packaging grade PET and achieve oxygen barriers consistently less than .01 cc/100 in²/day.

Prior to these advancements this level of O² barrier was achievable, but at much greater cost of specialty base films. Now equipment, base film and specialized process conditions combine to produce a low-cost, high-barrier product.

For example, the Bag-in-Box liquid packaging market requires high barrier and low-cost productions. Not only did Vacumet’s enhanced process conditions improve the metallized films barrier, but the improved metal adhesion characteristics improved the degradation of barrier through the multi-step lamination process at Scholle. This resulted in an end product that greatly exceeded expectations in the end user market.

Vacumet has an extensive technical team capable of supporting any converting operation. A broad range of expertise from research and development, quality engineering and operations is available to support customer requirements. This team of industry specialists knows the markets, the products and the applications of each of our customers and how metallizing technology applies. Their ability to advise and guide our customers enables us to ensure product success.

Our graphic design team has experience in all commercial print technologies, laminating, holography, coating and general converting, as well as, graphic design capabilities. These capabilities allow us to offer one-of-a-kind looks with standard patterns or fully customized patterns designed specifically to suite brand owners’ needs.

For both of these teams, support can range from a telephone call to sharing technical literature, to on-site technical support during trials and production.

For printing support, Vacumet has close relationships with most major ink manufacturers and can provide support to printers new to the field of metallized papers.
